MotiveSpace Coalition

Helping Neighbors build Neighborhoods

Programs

MotiveSpace has developed three programs to serve Neighbors:  The Coalition Advisory Network, the Design Cooperate Program, and Community Asset Funds Program.

These three Programs are intended to address the broadest range of needs by a community with limited project management  experience, and limited funding- ALL of the Coalition Programs are designed to work best for cash-poor, people-rich groups.  For groups with limited project experience in consensus building, motiveSpace acts as a sounding board, and third party facilitator – often serving as the ‘unbiased eyes’ a community needs, to cooperate most effectively.  For groups with limited funding, using the motiveSpace’s Programs to connect to other like-minded groups and neighbors can be a strong way to maximize their project budgets, and connect directly to end-users.

From initial visioning, concept development, project workshops and charrettes, to innovative project financing strategies, the Coalition Programs help Neighbors grow the resources, talent, and tools they need to create cooperative, innovative, and high-visibility projects in their neighborhoods.

Program Requirements and Guidelines

The only requirement governing the use of Programs is that they support community-oriented projects in line with the Coalition Mission and Values.  All Programs are designed to work best for Project Teams with strong affirmative answers to the following questions:

  • Does the project have a high level of community support?  (How many people are willing to work hard, to make the project a reality?)
  • Does the project have a high level of community need?  (How does it address social problems which can’t be addressed by traditional approaches?)
  • Is the project inclusive? (Of the diversity of opinions and stakeholders surrounding it?)
  • Is the project responsive? (To the widest range of ‘assets and needs’ in its neighborhood?)
  • Is the project feasible? (Does its Project Team have the level of experience, resources and/or leadership they will need to see it through?)
